Empowering the Next Generation of Innovators

From Curiosity to Action

The spark for Project EcoMotion was ignited in an 8th-grade classroom. During a presentation by a guest speaker from Blue Origin, our founder, Grace, learned how highly specialized materials enable rockets to survive the extreme, unforgiving environment of space. That single moment perfectly connected a lifelong love for physics, chemistry, and problem-solving into one unified field: Materials Science and Engineering (MSE).

However, growing up in the Seattle region—a hub of technology and outdoor recreation—a stark contrast became clear. While high school curriculums heavily emphasize computer science and mechanical engineering, materials science remains largely invisible to students, even though it is the foundational layer of nearly everything we touch.

Recognizing this gap, Project EcoMotion was formed to bring MSE out of the shadows. By using the sports and outdoor gear that Pacific Northwest students already use every day, we reveal the hidden science behind performance, sustainability, and innovation.

Grace

Founder & Board Member. Currently a high school junior, Grace founded Project EcoMotion to make STEM education more accessible and engaging. Outside of the lab and classroom, she is an avid skier and tennis player, constantly testing the limits of the gear she studies.
